The monthly collection of donations for St. Vincent de Paul will be after all Masses May 25-26. We are in special need of cookie sheets, muffin tins, cake pans and new or gently used sheets sets of all sizes. Please call Randy Bedore at 262-617-0910 for pick-up of large donations. Thank you for your help.
This month’s Love Story:
Towels, spoons, blankets and sheets - our weekly treasure hunt. Every Friday morning a friend and I sort through the many boxes and bags of Saint Vincent de Paul household items received as donations during the prior week. We discover treasures that we hold in our storeroom for those members who make home visits and their clients. When a client needs a particular item, like dishes or sheets or a can opener, the members who make home visits are often able to find that item in the storeroom and pass it directly to the client without cost. This is a huge blessing!
The two of us organize the boxes and bags of goods in our church basement. We place the items on shelves that we label for good organization and for quick pick-up. Sometimes the items are from family members who are dismantling a loved one’s apartment. Sometimes they are from parishioners who have chosen to downsize for a variety of reasons. In addition, we also receive many beautiful new items purchased as donations for the friends we visit.
Friday mornings are fruitful for my friend and me. As we sort and place items on the shelves, we chat about the events of our week and share our faith with one another. We never know what we will find. Our time together is always a bit of a weekly treasure hunt.
