Second Sunday of Lent

“If you are what you should be, you will set the world ablaze.”
(St. Catherine of Siena)

Dear Friends,

These forty days of Lent are nothing other than a call for us to come back to who we really are. In a world which distracts and divides us from our true selves and from each other, we are called to increased prayer, fasting and almsgiving in order to refocus our energy back to Christ and his love working through us to accomplish the mission of God and change the world back to its call to be the Kingdom of God, a place of justice and generosity, a place of peace and compassion.

Our fears and worries, our selfishness and self-preoccupations, the demons that tempt us, try to distract us from the greater picture of what is really going on—God is restoring the earth and through his Son Jesus saves us from final damnation! Each of us is a unique gift whose call is to discover how, like Christ, we too can be transfigured and let our light shine to a world which, sad to say, is so dark, dreary and frightening in so many ways.

So – pray that the real you will be able to shine! Pray for those amongst us seeking to be initiated into the way of Christ, that together we can help Christ to change the world, not by our efforts, but through the fire and brightness of his love burning in us!

Sincerely, with love,
Fr. Tim
