Grieving with Great Hope helps you navigate your way. Your guide is the Holy Spirit. You will be an active participant in this journey. You will be encouraged to pray. You will learn ways to redefine yourself and have an enduring relationship with your loved one. You will come to understand and accept your emotions but process them through.

In a grief support group, grievers can hear testimony from those who have “been there.” They will discover that others have suffered similar pains, fear, sadness, and anger. It is critical for a griever to know that it is okay to feel lonely, depressed or isolated, and to know with certainty that someday they will feel better.

A grief support group can offer hope. Let us walk this journey with you. If you have questions or wish to register, please contact Terri Balash, Director of Pastoral Care, at 414-469-6173 or tbalash@ffpmke.org. Registration is required so we can plan accordingly.

On Awakening Rosary Art Project @ Cathedral Parish Office
Oct 14 @ 6:30 pm

“On Awakening” is a contemplative painting experience. No skill is required, just a willingness to show up! Rooted in the spiritual rhythms of recovery and the Church, this five-week series, led by Jason Gonzalez of 4th Dimension Sobriety, offers a quiet space to reflect, to reconnect, to create and to receive. Each brushstroke becomes a step toward hope – a visual prayer that invites grace to do what we cannot do alone.

Sessions will be held in the Cathedral parish office second floor north room (831 N Van Buren St) beginning at 6:30 pm on September 23, 30, October 7, 14, and 21.

Each session will be centered on a different mystery of the Rosary. You are invited to attend one, two…or all five sessions! All materials will be provided.

To register or learn more, contact Idalia Nieves-Reyes at inievesreyes@ffpmke.org or 414-276-9814 x110.

UPLIFT Teens

UPLIFT Teens provides spiritual formation for all high school students from the parishes of Old St. Mary, Our Lady of Divine Providence, SS. Peter and Paul, and Three Holy Women. UPLIFT Teens will encounter Jesus Christ and be in a peer community that supports a life of discipleship. Whether you are a junior or senior in high school preparing to receive the sacrament of confirmation or an underclassman open to learning more about your Catholic faith, UPLIFT Teens is for you!

We strongly encourage at minimum two years of preparation for the sacrament of confirmation.  Exceptions will be given to those who are just joining as a junior or senior, however, it becomes much more crucial to attend, participate, and engage!

Our UPLIFT Teens format will meet twice a month for two hours at St. Rita Church (1617 N Cass St). Our time will consist of a dinner meal, prayer in the church, videos, small group discussion and games and community building throughout the night.

OCIA – Becoming Catholic
Oct 14 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Dorothy Day writes, “The final word is love…To love we must know each other … and we know each other in the breaking of bread, and we are not alone any more…We have all known the long loneliness and we have learned that the only solution is love and that love comes with community.”

Despite the many challenges we face today, we believe in the power of love found in Communion and in community. Our parishes invite anyone who is interested in exploring the Catholic faith to consider the OCIA process. OCIA, the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a place where adults of any or no faith tradition can explore questions of faith and prepare to join the Catholic Church.

This group meets weekly September through May, with sacraments being received at the Easter Vigil. If you or someone you know might be interested, contact our Pastoral Associate, Chad Griesel, at 414-271-6577 or cgriesel@ffpmke.org.

Healing the Whole Person: Engaging Your Story is an 8-week series that provides the framework for understanding and receiving Christ’s healing and peace in the heart of the Catholic Church.

Using videos featuring Dr. Bob Schuchts & Sr. Miriam James Heidland presenting the John Paul II Healing Center’s Healing the Whole Person teachings, each session includes a guided prayer experience and a workbook journaling activity for private reflection and prayer. These sessions also include the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation and to pray with a prayer team trained by the John Paul II Healing Center.

The goal of this video series is to facilitate a personal encounter with Jesus’ merciful love and healing truth in the areas where people have felt disconnected from love and bound by lies. We have witnessed God work powerfully in the lives of those who participate with an open heart. Wherever you find yourself now is not the end of your story. God is here. God has more for you. Engaging Your Story is time set aside for God to guide you through.

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God remains forever.” Isaiah 40:8
