Eat, Drink and Be Catholic offers women and men of all ages a casual opportunity to explore the Catholic faith. The hope is that at the end of each evening, individuals not only know more but are inspired and empowered to more fully live out the faith we celebrate on Sundays.
“One discovers God in and through the things of this world.” Fr. Stephen Bevans
This year, speakers will explore “The Catholic Imagination” and how we are invited to experience God in the beauty of novels, music, visual arts, poetry and many other places where God’s loving presence is revealed outside of explicitly “religious” places. Drinks and appetizers are provided.
Our next session will be on Wednesday, May 7 beginning at 7:00 pm. Jon M. Sweeney will be talking about his experiences researching the lives of people like Nicholas Black Elk, Thomas Merton, and Saint Francis of Assisi, and how each one represents an essential aspect of the Catholic Imagination. Jon will also bring copies of his new book called “My Life in Seventeen Books.” If you’d like to buy one and have him sign it for you, he’ll be happy to do that. The book is $23 but Jon is making them available to us for $10 each and donating all proceeds to Capuchin Community Services in Milwaukee. Jon is also bringing other books to give away, related to the subjects he’s talking about!
